Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis), also known as balm, common balm, or balm mint, is a perennial herbaceous plant in the mint family Lamiaceae and native to south-central Europe, the Mediterranean Basin, Iran, and Central Asia, but now naturalized in the Americas and elsewhere. It grows to a maximum height of 70–150 cm (28–59 in), and its leaves have a mild lemon scent similar to mint. The leaves are used as a herb, in teas, and as a flavoring. It is also grown as an ornamental plant and for its oil (to use in perfumery).
The tea of lemon balm, the essential oil, and the extract are used in traditional and alternative medicine, including aromatherapy. Our organic lemon balm (Melissae folium) is USDA Certified Organic by MOSA 2021 and originates from Poland.
To prepare lemon balm tea, add 1 teaspoon of lemon balm to a cup, pour in boiling water, brew covered for about 8-10 minutes, strain, and enjoy. Our herbs come from all over the world, but mostly from the north-eastern part of Poland, one of the cleanest areas of the country. This area is mainly dense forests of varying topography, which allows for the growth of a wide variety of herbs.
Lemon balm has a fresh, delicate lemon flavor and a distinctive aroma. It is an excellent base for any additives, sugar, or herbs, depending on your preferences. Many people value lemon balm primarily for its health benefits. Our team of product experts is always available to help you choose the best products for your needs.
